Volunteer network

When the County and District councils set up the network of Community Access Points it became clear that providing the infrastructure and technology alone would not be enough. Volunteers and key holders became the human infrastructure that enabled the CAPs and the activity in them to thrive and sustain beyond the funding periods of project. Volunteers were also trained to offer support to other projects based around the CAP network. Most notably a community project to create digital archives of local history – www.ccan.co.uk and a project to create hyper-local social media sites linked to the County wide, service provider lead Shape Your Place – www.shapeyourplace.org.
