South Ostrobothnia has been a forerunner in the development of digital infrastructure. Some parts of the province have already taken into use an open fibre network model, which has been well received. Through a co-operative model or local authority owned initiative it has been possible to acquire fast optical fibre connections to remote, low populated rural areas, where larger actors have not been interested to invest.
Local Service Points all over the region utilizes the fast internet connections by offering digital services of public authorities in Finland for their citizens. People can get service quickly and easily through various channels. You can, for example, fill in forms through online channels or discuss with experts from various authorities via video link service. Read more on Local Service Points here.
