The role of the food sector is very important in the region of South Ostrobothnia. The region is well known for its strong sector of agriculture and agrotechnology companies, entrepreneurship and companies in food producing. The Regional Council of South Ostrobothnia is a project partner in Interreg Europe funded NICHE project, which aims at building innovative food value chains in regions taking part. The project has been running for two years already and the action plan for South Ostrobothnia was launched in March. It includes themes such as tightening of cooperation, branding the region, and emphasizing the know-how in food safety.
