Aim of Event

The aim of this event is to formally launch the PEACE-Air project and to present its objectives, scope, and expected impacts to key stakeholders, policymakers, and project partners. The event will provide an opportunity to outline how the project, supported by PEACEPLUS and managed by the Special EU Programmes Body, will address air pollution through coordinated, evidence-based, and cross-border action.
  1. To formally introduce the PEACE-Air project and partnership, outlining its aims, governance, and the roles of key organisations involved in delivering a coordinated, cross-border response to air pollution.
  2. To communicate the project’s strategic and evidence-based approach to reducing emissions from solid fuel burning, road transport, and agriculture, highlighting how research, data, and modelling will inform policy and practical action.
  3. To engage policymakers and stakeholders at an early stage, building shared understanding of the air quality challenge and fostering commitment to collaboration, knowledge exchange, and long-term impact across the island of Ireland.

Description

The official launch of the PEACE-Air project will take place on Friday, 16 January 2026 at Atlantic Technological University (ATU), Letterkenny, County Donegal. The PEACE-Air project, supported by PEACEPLUS and managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB), is designed to tackle air pollution through strategic engagement, scientific research, and coordinated cross-border action to reduce emissions from solid fuel burning, road transport, and agriculture.
