CIVITEC breaking new ground in the Nièvre
The excellent meeting and study visit to the town and ‘rural innovation hub’ of Lormes during the Nièvre CIVITEC partnership meeting in June has created some really productive results! The ‘Small Town of the Future’ which puts great value on its own participatory democratic activities and a long-standing commitment to digital inclusion and capacity building is now exploring European cooperation through CIVITEC.
On September 12 Nièvre numérique and the Nièvre county council met up with Justine Bouteille, Lormes Council’s Director and Laure de Foras, who heads up their training centre; to discuss a number of initiatives arising from ‘CIVITEC’; in particular, relating to young people. Firstly looking how there could be more mutual learning and exchange with our Estonian and Irish partners on getting young people more involved in school-based ‘participatory/CIVIS TECH activities, and contributing to building the future of their territory, secondly on exploring.
Lormes were keen to explore how they could invite young people from the partnership to Lormes to really work together on addressing these topics – maybe through an ERASMUS+ Youth partnership. We are now trying to make sure they join us in one of our partnership meetings in 2026.
