Citizens’ Observatory stakeholder meeting
A new forum dedicated to strengthening youth engagement in public policy has begun its work in Nièvre.
The Young Citizens’ Observatory, developed as a follow-up to the participatory initiatives Imagine la jeunesse and the CIVITEC project, aims to help young people understand the support programmes available to them, evaluate their relevance, and contribute to the design of new tools and approaches.
The inaugural session took place on Wednesday 6 November in the County Council Chambers, bringing together around fifteen participants. The group included teenagers and young adults from both urban and rural areas, representing a range of situations: secondary school pupils, trainees, jobseekers and those already in employment. Despite their diverse backgrounds, they share a clear ambition — to have a meaningful influence on the political decisions that shape their daily lives.
Through the Observatory, young people will be able to share their perspectives directly with decision-makers, helping to ensure that existing programmes remain aligned with their needs and that future policies are informed by lived experience.
The next meeting of the Young Citizens’ Observatory is scheduled for 3 December.
