Webinar: From Vision to Reality
The MINDSET project is pleased to invite policymakers, practitioners and community stakeholders to a webinar introducing the new MOOC From Vision to Reality: The Fundamentals of Mission-Oriented Innovation.
The webinar will present a foundational online course designed to support those working on complex societal challenges through mission-oriented innovation (MOI). The course explores how public, private and civic actors can work together around clear and ambitious societal missions, translating long-term visions into practical and measurable action.
Taking place on Monday, 11 May 2026, from 11:00 to 12:30 (UTC+00:00), the session will guide participants through the structure, content and learning journey of the MOOC, including how to access the platform and navigate the different sections.
The course introduces the core principles of mission-oriented innovation and explains how this approach differs from more traditional innovation and policy models. Participants will gain insight into how missions can be designed, governed and implemented at local, regional and organisational level.
The MOOC enables learners to:
- Understand the systemic nature of major societal challenges and why they require mission-oriented responses
- Explore the principles and practical application of mission-oriented innovation
- Learn how to formulate clear, measurable and implementable mission statements and portfolios
- Address governance, funding and evaluation challenges linked to mission delivery
- Co-create locally relevant missions through practical exercises and stakeholder engagement T
The course is aimed at policymakers, public sector professionals, project and programme managers, innovation and sustainability practitioners, and community stakeholders working across sectors. No previous experience with mission-oriented innovation is required. This webinar is organised as part of the MINDSET project, an EU-funded initiative under the Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme. The project supports the uptake of mission-oriented innovation approaches in sparsely populated Northern regions.
