The
European Commission’s Expert Group on the Economic and Societal Impact of Research and Innovation (ESIR)
has published a new policy brief titled
“Strategic intelligence for emerging and critical technologies.”
We are pleased to highlight that our IMC member
Dr. Emilija Stojmenova Duh
from
University of Ljubljana
contributed to this publication, which explores how European innovation policy can better align strategic foresight with industrial capability and capital investment.
The brief outlines three main priorities for European technology policy:
Linking foresight to investment:
Directing strategic intelligence into concrete funding and capital allocation decisions.
Value-chain integration:
Evaluating technology choices across the entire ecosystem, including infrastructure, industrial capabilities, supply chain dependencies, and conditions for scaling up.
Translating research into capacity:
Closing the scale-up gap by converting Europe’s research excellence into industrial output, private investment, and strategic value.
As emerging technologies increasingly define global competitiveness, connecting strategic insight with market deployment remains vital for building long-term resilience and industrial growth.
The full policy brief is available to read on the
European Commission website
