EU Programme: Northern Periphery and Arctic (2014-2020)
Project Budget:  €152,651
Start Date:  Jul, 2021
Finish Date:  Jun, 2022
Project Website:  https://greener.interreg-npa.eu/
The aim of the project is to:

Increase use of energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions in housing and public infrastructures in remote, sparsely populated areas. This project will cluster 3 international projects approved by the Northern Periphery and Arctic Programmes to increase awareness, gain critical mass, and transfer knowledge about the latest energy solutions to public authorities, communities and businesses across the NPA area.

Specific objectives are to:
  • Increase dissemination among end users to increase number of households and buildings with improved energy consumption.
  • Increase public authority awareness of energy efficiency, renewables and smart energy management solutions, by transferring knowledge and good practices from other NPA Areas.
  • Create a transnational cluster of public authorities, knowledge centres, community groups, citizens and businesses

Combine innovative energy solutions and good practices from 3 complementary NPA projects (SMARCTIC, LECo & h-CHP) that can be transferred to housing and public infrastructures, suitable for cold climates and dispersed settlements, in remote and sparsely populated areas.

Each of the 3 projects focus on a specific Priority Axis 3 output indicator - opportunity to gather and disseminate a huge amount of knowledge across 3 areas:
1-Models developed utilising by-products from economic activities as energy sources for public infrastructures and housing (h-CHP)
2-Renewable energy solutions for public infrastructures and housing (LECo)
    3-Smart energy management solutions (SMARCTIC)
