The aim of the project is to:

Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) is still growing fast in North-West Europe (NWE), mainly because life-cycles become shorter. A systemic change is needed. In this project we pilot RRR ecosystems in 6 regions across NWE, with the objective to increase the regions’ capacities to manage EEE reuse, repair and refurbishment. E6 focuses on the (physical and digital) infrastructure to provide low-threshold support for citizens and to facilitate a new economy for RRR.

Specific objectives are to:

Promoting the transition to a circular and resource efficient economy
Increasing the capacities of regions to give citizens the first option of reuse, repair and refurbishment of EEE in NWE.
Creating tools and methods for supporting RRR-ecosystems.
Capacity building, awareness raising and upscaling.

The city of the Hague main roles in the E6 project are to lead the pilot action in the Hague ecosystem and coordinate the upscaling of project results to other cities.

Partners in 6 city-regions will set-up ecosystems together with other stakeholders in RRR of EEE, to pilot low-threshold (physical and digital) infrastructure to Extend the lifetime of End-of-Use EEE.
A model for a new place-based circular layer for RRR of EEE will be consolidated from this experience for dissemination in NWE.

Funded by North West Europe programme and led by Saxion University of Applied Sciences (The Netherlands), the E6 project, or 'Ecosystems for Extended-lifetime of End-of-Use Electrical and Electronic Equipment' has a total budget of €8,150,000.00, with over €1 million euro allocated to the Northern & Western region of Ireland. E6 aims to increase the capacity of cities and regions in facilitating Re-use, Repair, and Refurbishment (RRR) practices for electrical and electronic equipment.
