The aim of the project is to:

Enable users of mobile computing to access tourism and culture information in the participating regions.

Specific objectives are to:
  • Each territorial partner will provide the SIS with a set of data consisting of map (GIS) and associated tourist information, in a format defined by the partners.
  • By running on data supplied by each region, the SIS should be interoperable and data should be compliant with OpenGIS standards.

The SMITA Information System (SIS) is for use by mobile phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), as well as personal computers. Use of the application should be targeted at users who are located within the partner regions, but could also be used by those outside as well.
