GRAAL
project
This week, all partners and associated partners of
GRAAL – Governance and Regional Atlantic Area Lighthouse
project, funded by the
Interreg Atlantic Area Programme
, met for the first time at the project’s General Assembly, in Brussels. During the meeting, participants presented the project’s initial results and outlined the methodology for establishing the Atlantic Area Policy Community of Practice (AA CoP). This initiative aims to support the next generation of Atlantic cooperation investments funded by European programmes.
Through a participatory approach, GRAAL has already begun fostering peer exchanges and thematic workshops focused on the key priorities of the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme: nature conservation and biodiversity protection; marine renewable energy; ocean pollution; climate change adaptation and risk prevention; and sustainable tourism.
In addition, previously completed projects are being reviewed to assess their tangible results and explore their potential inclusion in a ranking process.
The latest updates and developments from the GRAAL project are now available on the newly launched website:

European Ocean Days 2026
The General Assembly took place during the European Ocean Days (2–6 March 2026), a key moment for European institutions dedicated to major ocean-related priorities. Building on the ambitions of the European Ocean Pact, the event served to present the OceanEye initiative. Building on the European Digital Twin of the Ocean (EDITO) and Copernicus' marine programme, OceanEye aims to lay the foundation for Europe's sovereign and cutting-edge ocean observation technology infrastructure supporting international efforts in ocean observation and protection.
