ERNACT and Data2Sustain host AI Chatbot workshop for Local Enterprise Week

As part of the Donegal Local Enterprise Week 2026, ERNACT recently hosted an online workshop titled "Introduction to AI Chatbots" under the Data2Sustain EDIH. The session provided local businesses and organisations with a practical overview of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential applications.

The workshop was led by Dr Paul Greaney, a Lecturer in Computing at Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Donegal and a Principal Investigator with ATU’s Centre for MISHE. Drawing on his expertise in data science and machine learning, Dr Greaney guided participants through the fundamentals of Large Language Models (LLMs) and the practicalities of chatbot implementation.

Key topics included:

Large Language Models (LLMs): An introduction to the technology behind modern AI.
Chatbot Fundamentals: Defining their role and functionality in a professional context.
Microsoft Copilot Studio: A demonstration of how to design and implement simple chatbot solutions without a coding background.

The event is part of the ongoing support provided by the Data2Sustain European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH), which assists organisations in the region with digital transformation and innovation.
