IMC Meeting, Ljubljana Slovenia
The ERNACT network gathered in Slovenia's capital this June for its first Interregional Management Committee meeting of 2026, two days of collaboration and forward planning in one of Europe's most beautiful cities.
Across the two days, members reviewed the network's position and governance, heard updates on communications and ERNACT's approaching 35th anniversary, and engaged in substantive working sessions on the major European funding opportunities the network is pursuing.
A highlight of the meeting was a high-level presentation from Claudia Oliveira, Programme Manager for EU Policies at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Digital Services (DG DIGIT). Claudia brought the room up to speed on the Interoperable Europe Act and the evolving European Interoperability Framework (EIF), introduced the Interoperable Europe Portal as a go-to hub for reusable interoperability solutions, and outlined practical steps for regional and local administrations looking to get started.
Further highlights included a presentation by Matteo Gerosa from Fondazione Bruno Kessler, a leading institution based in Trento specialising in technology, innovation, the humanities and social sciences, with particular expertise in AI, advanced sensing technologies and digital systems.
IMC meetings are the heartbeat of ERNACT. They are where strategy is tested, where the real work of European collaboration happens face-to-face, and where the relationships that underpin everything else are maintained and strengthened.
The meeting closed with a clear sense of what comes next. Actions were agreed, the date and location of the next IMC gathering was confirmed, and members departed with the energy that comes from time well spent together and a shared picture of the road ahead.
ERNACT is grateful to the University of Ljubljana, to our Slovenian partners, and to all our member regions who travelled to make this meeting such a success.
