Data4Rural partners gather in Brno to shape the future of data-driven rural tourism

The Data4Rural project consortium gathered in Brno (Czech Republic) on 16–17 September for its second in-person partner meeting to review project milestones and advance the design of an upcoming VET training platform.

Hosted by DIH Tourism 4.0 at Masaryk University’s Faculty of Economics and Administration, the two-day event brought together European project partners, researchers, industry representatives, and local stakeholders.

Designing training for sustainable rural growth
A key focus of the meeting was defining the structure and logic for the project's upcoming vocational education and training (VET) platform. The initiative aims to build digital and data literacy among small tourism businesses, local authorities, and education providers across rural Europe.

Key highlights of the two-day gathering included:

Foundational module design: Partners began mapping out the core curriculum modules that will form the backbone of the Data4Rural training framework.
Participatory co-creation workshop: Organized alongside ECON MUNI and Prof. Andrea Holešinská, partners engaged local and regional tourism stakeholders to test, challenge, and refine the proposed training architecture.
"The Potential of Tourism in Data" conference: Project partners met with Czech industry professionals to discuss practical approaches to data-driven destination management and explore how data can support more sustainable and resilient regional economies.

Building capacity across European territories
By making data tools accessible and actionable, the Erasmus+ KA220-VET Data4Rural project seeks to help rural tourism operators make informed decisions, improve competitiveness, and actively participate in emerging European tourism data spaces.
